Boon On Purusha Suktam Published On Amazon

Vēdic lore is one of the magnificent wisdom branches amongst the ancient ones. The thought process of a Vēdic seer is often non-linear and hence creates hurdles for the present day truth seeking explorers. The goal of this book is to help such an explorer with the process of attuning to the way of the Vēda. To this end, we will be taking the most famous hymn of Puruṣa Sūktaṃ of the Rig Vēdic text and try to understand the perspective of the Vēdic principles by decoding the depths of this hymn.

Only after understanding the basic bricks of the Vēda, can one enter into its specific contents. So, a solid introduction is given at the start, which helps the reader to attune their contemplative attitude to that of the Vēdic seers. The introductory part covers the topics such as – What is Vēda? What is the difference between a Vēda and a Vēdic text? How many Vēdās are there and why? What do we mean by Chandas? How did Vēdic hymns come into existence at all? What does it mean by the Vēda is eternal? etc. After such a serious ride into the deep canals of the Vēdic foundations, we enter into the topic of the hymn itself. It consists of 16 stanzas in total. A word to word meaning, an import and a thorough explanation is given for each of the hymns. Where necessary, some diagrams were also given to convey the key points of the stanzas to the reader.

What is the difference between this book and the existing works on Puruṣa Sukta? The main differences are the approach and the goal. The approach that I took for this book is that of a unified outlook. The unification is in terms of Physics, Vēda, Upaniṣads, Esoteric, Occult, Purāṇās, Etymology, Astrology, etc. The goal is not to understand Puruṣa Sūktaṃ as an individual literary piece, but to understand it as a torch that shines upon the Vēdic thought process. It is simple to give meaning to the hymns by using a dictionary. But it is a tough job to see and bring out a harmonious picture of the hymn in relation to the ancient Vēdic thought. After reading this book, the reader is sure to get a correct orientation towards understanding the Vēda, exactly as intended by the Vēdic seers.

So, I hope the reader appreciates my sincere efforts.

I wish you all a happy reading!
